Since I just got Kitty two months ago and she is the first cat I'd ever own, I had no idea on what to give her. I got her friskies first but when I started to find out more from this column, I switched her to Iams. I didn't know the definition of kitten (1-12 months) then, so I fed her adult food. After much more reading on this forum, I found that she's a kitten and it's better to feed her kitten food - higher protein contain. I searched through all the kitten brands and ended up with Science Plan Kitten Chicken and Tuna. SD Chicken contains 35% and Tuna 37% - I think. I noticed that she'd grew bigger and prettier. Her coat is so much fluffier then before and she'd put on some flesh too! For wet food, I think she still prefer whiskas though. I fed her addiction, she didn't like. Fed her SD can food for kitten (Chicken and Liver), didn't like it much either. Maybe it's the texture of the wet food (which is actually very dence and she has to work really hard to get them off the chunk and into her mouth...). Haven't try RC as the protein contain is just almost the same as SD. Thinking of switching to Felidae though as it's made of meat fit for human consumption (no by-products). Kitty's dry food consumption is actually below the recommendation portion - I'm thinking of starting her on multivit B to improve her appetite. Well, that's another topic, so I'll just stop here.

Hi Catalina,

There's a pet store nearby .. @ jurong .. but i'm not sure if they carry rc. another place that has rc will be holland village .. that's the nearest place to benoi that i can think of. if you need directions, let me know and i'll be glad to bring you there.

Basically, Iams food are good in market...consider as class 'A'....They dun contain any 'by product'...
But I dun feel like feeding my boy this brand as I am againts animal testing/cruelty....
Base on the web http://www.iamscruelty.com/ you can read thru on how Iams test their products....Once you read, you can understand and from there you can judge to support or not to support Iams... ...I felt pity to those cats & dogs...

hi BG,
well, it is always an essential practise to know what to give to our cats becoz wrongly giving fod to cats, of course dun cause much harm but the nutrients given counts when they r in the stage of growing. anyway, it is good to hear that u had switch to the correct food.

Hi Cataline,
indeed FLUTD is a very, very dangerous disease. My cat Wesley is prone of getting UT n after the 2nd time he had gone to the vet, the vet said Wesley had no choice but to hv UT diet for his entire life. It is indeed a painful process not just for Wesley but for me seeing his condition n the tense Wesley had to gone thru. just imagine having a tube stick at his penis just to flush his urine n crystals out. Thank god he is ok now n very naughty as well. I dun think Friskies n Whiskas is good for cats in a long run. My vet did mentioned that of all cat food in the market, IAMS had the least content of a mineral which contribute the factor of crystal forming in the cat's bladder.

kongsi? well, they eat in their separate bowls. I had one which allow to feed 2 cats the same time but my Casper n Wesley will gaduh lah, so i had no choice but to get 2 separate bowls for them. Anyway, they were smart since both of them r having different food (Casper is on EP n Wesley is on Walthams UT diet) n they eventually switch bowl half way. Therefore, what i did was to give them the amount of food which they would finish in 1 go n so both of them could not hv each other food later. i m not worry Casper having Wesley's food but Wesley the one i'm concern.
